Pratt & Whitney has completed the first article inspection of a production quality static structure for the F135 engine produced by Fokker Aerostructures, a company based in The Netherlands. In addition, Pratt & Whitney has signed a Letter of Intent with Fokker to produce F135 engine synchronizing rings. Pratt & Whitney is a United Technologies Corp. (NYSE: UTX) company.

"We are very pleased to accept this first production quality static structure for the F135 engine produced by Fokker," said Warren Boley, President of Pratt & Whitney military engines. "The letter of intent for additional work on the F135 illustrates our confidence in Fokker as a best value source, to use their state-of-art high-speed machining capability to deliver high-quality components for the F135 engine."

"Fokker is very proud of this achievement; this represents an important step forward for the Dutch Industrial Participation in the JSF and F135 program," said Hans Buthker, President of Fokker Aerostructures. "Fokker is looking forward to further intensify and expand its cooperation with Pratt & Whitney in the near and long-term future."
