PRESS RELEASE
Issued by: Howmet Fastening Systems, HQ
Alcoa Fastening Systems (AFS) announces that its UAB Blind Bolt has been approved by Embraer for use on the Phenom 300 Very Light Jet. Each aircraft will use approximately 3,700 UAB Blind Bolts in the manufacture of composite empennage and flaps.
UAB Blind Bolts have proved to simplify the installation process. One tool installs three different diameters, thus reducing tooling costs and facilitating automation and robotic installation. The installed fasteners provide greater spindle flushness for improved aerodynamic performance and cosmetic appearance. In addition, the blind side bulb of these fasteners is enhanced to provide additional grip overlap and improved performance on sloped surfaces.
