Goodrich designated Gold Leader by Colorado's Environmental Leadership Program
Friday, 14 November 2008

Goodrich Corporation's (NYSE: GR) Aircraft Wheels and Brakes site in Pueblo, Colo. received the Gold Leader award from the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment's Environmental Leadership Program (ELP).

The ELP is a voluntary initiative that encourages and rewards superior environmental performers that go beyond the requirements of environmental regulations and move toward the goal of sustainability. Employees of the Goodrich facility in Pueblo have made significant improvements to reduce the facility's environmental impact, including:

• Reducing hazardous waste generation by 80% while increasing production;

• Decreasing NOx emissions, a byproduct of combustion, by 74% using new boiler technology;

• Reducing natural gas consumption by using new heat recovery units.

The team has also committed to future environmental initiatives including technology to reduce water, electricity and chemical consumption; increased recycling of raw and processed materials; and mentoring other businesses and organizations in the community on environmental stewardship.

"The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment is pleased to welcome Goodrich Corporation's Aircraft Wheels and Brakes team into the state's Environmental Leadership Program," said the department's Executive Director Jim Martin. "Goodrich joins about 30 other Gold Leader companies that have exhibited outstanding environmental stewardship in their work. We applaud all of these strong environmental leaders."

The Environmental Leadership Program is a statewide environmental recognition and reward program administered by the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment's Sustainability Program. The Environmental Leadership Program offers benefits and incentives to members that voluntarily go beyond compliance with state and federal regulations and are committed to continual environmental improvement.
