New Tufnol grade for use in composite panels
Monday, 11 December 2006

Tufnol Composites - the leading UK manufacturer, stockist and machinists of high performance engineering plastics and composites, laminates and glass reinforced profiles - has launched a new epoxy glass fabric laminate for use as hard points in composite panels.

Designated Tufnol Grade 10G/48 - it is manufactured in an epoxy resin system which is specially formulated to produce a material with good dimensional stability and strength retention which is further enhanced when subjected to temperatures up to 155 C.

Tufnol Grade 10G/48 was developed in conjunction with Airbus UK to satisfy a specific composite processing requirement demanding machined components with high flexural strength at 150 C after conditioning in an oven temperature of 200 C for 100 hours.

Available only as machined components produced to customer specifications, Tufnol Grade 10G/48 is ideally suited to applications involving processing at temperatures up to 200 C. Typically when components are incorporated into composite lay-up assemblies with thermosetting prepregs that require high temperature autoclave processing.
