Delivers maximum performance and bounded response times for safety-critical execution across multiple ARM Cortex-A53 processing cores.
DDC-I, a leading supplier of software and professional services for mission- and safety-critical applications, today announced the availability of its Deos safety-critical real-time operating system and SafeMC multicore technology for Xilinx Zynq Ultrascale+ MPSoC devices. Deos, equipped with SafeMC technology, enables Zynq Ultrascale+ MPSoC developers targeting safety-critical applications to take full advantage of the device's multicore capabilities without compromising safety-critical task response and guaranteed execution times.
“Xilinx Zynq Ultrascale+ MPSoC devices provide a unique combination of high-performance multiprocessing and customizable hardware capability that make them ideal for a wide range of compute-intensive safety-critical applications requiring ease of hardware configurability,” said Greg Rose, vice president of marketing and product management at DDC-I. “Together, Deos and the Zynq Ultrascale+ MPSoC provide an integrated platform the safety-critical industry has been looking for, a common SoC compute engine for the core system that is certifiable to DO-178C DAL A, plus the added flexibility of programmable logic.”
“Safety-critical certification capabilities and advanced multi-core features for safe operation make Deos an excellent choice for hosting safety-critical applications on Zynq Ultrascale+ MPSoC devices,” said Dagan White, System Architect, Aerospace and Defense at Xilinx. “With Deos now available on Zynq Ultrascale+ MPSoC devices, our joint customers now have an integrated platform and easy access to best-in-class safety-critical technology.”
Xilinx Zynq UltraScale+ MPSoC devices integrate dual- or quad-core ARM® Cortex- A53 processors with 16-nm FinFET+ programmable logic. This architecture gives developers a flexible compute platform with configurable I/O and co-processing elements that make the technology ideal for applications including avionics, next generation ADAS, and Industrial Internet-of-Things applications.
Deos has been certified to DO-178B DAL A since 1998, and flies on tens of thousands of commercial and military aircraft. Utilizing time and space partitioning, Deos maximizes safety, reduces worst-case response times, and maximizes CPU utilization.
DDC-I's industry leading SafeMC technology extends the performance and safety-critical capabilities of Deos to multiple ARM Cortex-A53 cores by providing customizable scheduling and partitioning capabilities that enable developers to isolate and alleviate multicore bottlenecks. The result is enhanced determinism, reduced worst-case response time, and increased CPU utilization for safety-critical applications spanning one or more cores.
