PRESS RELEASE
Issued by:

CPI Radant Technologies Division to develop wideband radome for military aircraft
Monday, 11 December 2017

The Radant Technologies Division of Communications & Power Industries LLC (CPI) has been awarded an approximately $3 million contract to develop a satellite communications radome for a U.S. military airborne platform.

The radome will be compatible with, and enable connectivity with, any wideband satellite communications system, including commercial Ku-band and Ka-band systems and military Ka-band Wideband Global SATCOM (WGS) systems.

The design and implementation of this radome will be based on the patented design of a novel, quad-band satellite communications radome that CPI Radant Technologies Division first developed and demonstrated for a global communications company in 2014. Subsequently, it was included in the FAA-approved Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) received by that customer in 2016 and has been used to support in-flight entertainment and connectivity (IFEC) systems on commercial transport aircraft.

"CPI Radant Technologies Division continues to drive the development of radome technology to support increasingly complex and demanding requirements. The award of this latest airborne Ku/Ka radome contract further demonstrates our dedication to supporting advanced global connectivity across military and commercial applications," said Dr. Jean-Claude Sureau, director of business development at CPI Radant Technologies Division.

Work on this contract will be performed at CPI Radant Technologies Division's facilities in Stow, Mass. CPI Radant Technologies Division was named a Manufacturer of the Year by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts in October 2017.
