Composiflex, Inc., a global supplier of highly-engineered composite products, announces registration to AS9100 from NSF International Strategic Registrations (NSF). Upgrading the quality system to AS9100 better addresses the aerospace segment of the company's business, which continues to grow.
Composiflex's quality policy emphasizes empowerment of a well-trained workforce to identify and solve problems at all levels of the organization to achieve complete customer satisfaction. Systems already in place to maintain ISO9001:2000 certification were effectively producing results when company management decided to take steps necessary to meet the additional requirements specified by AS9100.
NSF thoroughly assessed the company's quality management system and found it to be in compliance with AS9100, the International Aerospace Quality Standard.
"Composiflex commitment to quality has been evident since their initial registration in 2000," said NSF General Manager Christian Lupo. "Upgrading their management systems to AS9100 demonstrates their commitment to the aerospace industry and Composiflex's continued leadership in quality, as well as their emphasis on continual improvement."
AS9100 is a quality management system that includes ISO9001:2000 and adds specific requirements that are critical for the aerospace sector, such as traceability. To obtain AS9100 registration, Composiflex fulfilled the following requirements:
• Completed pre-assessment to initially evaluate the organization's management system
• Passed documentation review
• Completed an on-site initial audit
• Completed additional reliability and maintenance preventative measures
Ongoing monitoring will ensure continued conformance to AS9100 requirements.
AS9100 registration recognizes Composiflex's successful implementation of its quality management system. This registration will act as a pre-qualifier in the company's pursuit of additional opportunities to supply composite components and sub-assemblies to customers in the aerospace market.
Composiflex quality manager, Dave Sasso, is proud of the outcome. "Everyone throughout our organization was integrally involved with the upgrade process. We will continue to 'live the system' based upon the level of commitment demonstrated across the organization."
Using a variety of processing methods, Composiflex designs and manufactures advanced high-performance composites for customers in the aerospace, military, ballistic protection, medical, industrial, and recreational markets. Specializing in custom designs, the company is characterized by its "art-to-part" projects made possible by its extensive experience in composite design and materials.
