Centurion compliments Diamond on successful test of "Angel Eye"
Tuesday, 28 July 2009

Centurion expresses its appreciation of the successful test flights of Diamond's newly developed Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) "Angel Eye". Just like its manned version, the DA 42 MPP, Angel Eye is propelled by CENTURION-Engines.

"The successful test flights are once again proof of the technical maturity and good performance of our CENTURION 2.0 engines", said CENTURION chairman of the board Jasper M. Wolffson. "Therefore we congratulate Diamond on the successful tests."

The Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Angel Eye is a new development by Diamond based on the twin engine DA 42. Examples for future use of the system are military surveillance missions, border control and pipeline and power line inspection. In these areas its manned version, the DA 42 MPP (Multi Purpose Platform), has proved a great success. The DA 42 MPP has earned a reputation for its fuel efficiency, high density altitude performance, long endurance, high payload capacity, low operating costs and low noise signature. The DA 42 MPP is also powered by CENTURION 2.0 engines.

The CENTURION 2.0 engine has proved its reliability on many occasions, particularly in hostile environments and under extreme weather conditions. For instance, two CENTURION powered DA 42 MPP of the Royal Air Force have successfully flown over 2,000 hours on operations in Iraq, providing more than 99 percent reliability despatch rate. Also, CENTURION engines have been in the field propelling reconnaisance drones for many years.
