Recaro Aircraft Seating spotlights innovation, sustainability and new premium seating solutions
Tuesday, 6 June 2023

Recaro Aircraft Seating is showcasing its latest sustainability and innovation initiatives at AIX 2023, as well as the newest addition to its portfolio, the PL3810 premium class seat. The new seat sets the benchmark for premium travel. Customer service solutions, front row monument innovations for business class, and the entire RECARO product lineup will also be featured at the AIX booth.

New for 2023, the Recaro Innovation Station will feature a combination of smart technology and sustainability initiatives. The “R Horizon” concept features a business class seat with integrated smart cabin technology, which can be experienced and tried first-hand by booth guests. Outfitted with a new trim and finish of wood and marble, the R Horizon is created in collaboration with partners from various industries. Panasonic Avionics has a longstanding partnership with Recaro in transforming the passenger experience through innovation and providing support to airlines through unmatched customer service.

The sustainability concept at the booth focuses on the rigorous life cycle assessment of Recaro seats, which is an extensive process used to build more environmentally-friendly products, end-to-end. Built as a result of a recent life cycle assessment, the “R Sphere” seat concept was created with lightweight and recyclable materials such as cork, wood, fishing nets and cactus. The goal of the project is to develop a model to collect and track feedback that will be used to make future Recaro products more sustainable.

The newest addition to the award-winning Recaro portfolio is the PL3810 premium seat. Embracing premium and space, the brand-new product will enhance the passenger journey for premium class travelers. The PL3810 is the result of comprehensive market and observational research, as well as global trends and our extensive experience as a leading supplier in the premium segment. The vast spectrum of amenities and ergonomic features of the PL3810 means it can be used as a premium class seat for widebody aircraft.

Passengers can take advantage of the single-plate table, 4.5-inch center armrest, a six-way adjustable headrest, a nine-inch recline with articulation, and calf-rest. Another major part of the seat's design are the privacy wings, which further enhance the living space and ties back to the need for passengers to “own their space.” Weighing 10% lighter than its predecessor, this gives an airline more cabin flexibility and helps save on fuel costs, while making their fleet more sustainable. In addition to the new PL3810, booth guests can experience the comfort of the CL3810 economy class seat, the CL6720 business class seat, among others.

A new competency being highlighted at the booth is the front row monument, which can be built in-house at our competence center composites, AAT Composites, in South Africa. This offering gives airlines even more flexibility when designing the cabin.

The newest version of the SPRINT seat will also be featured, which is a major part of the Customer Service offerings at Recaro. The bestselling seat gives airlines an eight-week turnaround period between order and delivery and has generated significant interest, especially with leasing airlines.

“With each seat order we receive, from economy to business class, Recaro is tasked with helping airlines build a better passenger experience,” said Dr. Mark Hiller, CEO of Recaro Aircraft Seating and Recaro Holding. “AIX is an important part of that process, as we greatly value the feedback on our seats that we receive from our partners, customers and suppliers. I look forward to an intensive and insightful show for Recaro.”

Headquartered in Schwaebisch Hall, Germany, Recaro has more than fifty years of experience in ergonomic aircraft seating. Investing in new technologies and people has resulted in Recaro becoming a global market leader in economy class seating with more than one million seats flying worldwide.
