Esterline CMC Electronics' 10.4 inch Class 2 Electronic Flight Bag chosen by Boeing for installation on B747-8
Monday, 19 July 2010

Esterline CMC Electronics' new CMA-1410 Class 2 PilotView® Electronic Flight Bag (EFB) has been selected by Boeing for its B747-8 Onboard Network Access Terminal (ONAT) system. The 10.4 inch device will be used as a display terminal in the B747-8 cockpit, enabling maintenance personnel and crew to access aircraft systems from one central location and relay data where required. Boeing has already chosen the PilotView CMA-1410 for its B737NGs and BBJs as a Class 2 EFB system, which is available on both production aircraft and for retrofit.

Greg Yeldon, president of CMC, said, "The fact that Boeing will be using our Pilotview CMA-1410 in the B747-8 as a maintenance network access terminal, as opposed to a Class 2 EFB, underscores the flexibility of our design. Given its ability to swiftly communicate with onboard aircraft systems, the CMA-1410 actually has more applications than just serving as an EFB. Ultimately, it offers more value to Boeing and its customers."

CMC's PilotView EFB improves productivity in the cockpit by enabling pre-flight planning and efficient access to up-to-date aircraft documentation, checklists and flight planning information. The PilotView EFB system is compact and lightweight, with a display/ processor unit, and aircraft interface unit, that are to easy to install in a variety of cockpits where space is at a premium.

Over 25 STCs are available for the PilotView EFB on aircraft ranging from the Gulfstream GIV and GV to the Bombardier Global Express/5000/XRS. PilotView is currently the only Class 2 EFB with factory forward-fit installation positions at aircraft OEMs. It is offered as a standard option at Dassault and ATR, and has been selected by Rockwell Collins for the Bombardier Global platform, by Embraer for the E-170/190 and Legacy/Lineage programs, by Bombardier for the CRJ700/900/1000 and by Boeing for the Next-Generation B737 and BBJ aircraft
