High wing medium transport aircraft with four wing mounted turbofans. Includes aerial tanker variant, IL-78 and Beriev A-100 Premyer bomber and surveillance aircraft.

Ilyushin IL-76 1967 / 1971 Original version, designed to carry a payload of 40 tonnes over 5,000 kilometres in less than six hours from short and unprepared airstrips, and capable of coping with the worst weather conditions.
Ilyushin IL-78 1983 / 1984 Aerial tanker version, also known as IL-478 with ability to in-air refeul two fighters with wing pods, one bomber with rear pod, or four aircraft on ground simultaneously.
Ilyushin IL-76MD-90A 2006 / 2014 Ugraded military variant, redesigned wing and longer wing box panels to reduce weight. Codename: IL-476.
Beriev A-100 Premyer 2006 / 2017 Airborne early warning and control (AEW&C) aircraft based on the Il-76MD-90A transport aircraft, meant to be a replacement for the A-50 AEW&C aircraft.
