Meggitt’s NG standby flight display certified

Meggitt Avionics has received European Technical Standard Order (ETSO) Authorisation from EASA and Technical Standard Order (TSO) Authorisation from the FAA for its next generation integrated secondary flight display (iSFD). Designed to meet the requirements of any modern aircraft avionics architecture, these certifications make iSFD the most up-to-date, low risk instrument range on the international market. While the product can be certified easily for use in a variety of cockpits worldwide, it is also free of United States export control regulations (ITAR), reducing compliance workload for original equipment manufacturers and aircraft users. iSFD is Meggitt Avionics’ third generation solid-state standby display. The first was introduced to the market in 1995 to back up glass (digital) cockpits. Since then, it has been installed on over 30 different aircraft programmes. Over 5,000 are in service worldwide. Like those before it, the iSFD is sustaining a high level of interest for its low weight, shortest installed length, best use of screen space, customisation and configurability—and the low power, long life and magnitude of brightness that comes with the LED backlights unique to Meggitt standby systems. Since marketing the product in 2007, the iSFD has been selected for seven programmes, a mix of military and commercial wins which include HondaJet and the LearJet 85.
