Rockwell Collins introduces new features for Airshow 4000

Rockwell Collins is adding several new features to its Airshow 4000 moving map display and flight information system for business aircraft. The additions will offer passengers an upgraded system with a refreshed graphical user interface that provides more details on existing maps, as well as new features including a World Clock page, and a Flight Deck Instrument Panel page.

"Our Airshow Moving Map product continues to evolve with superior graphics and more information that keep passengers well-informed during their flight," said Tommy Dodson, vice president and general manager, Cabin Systems for Rockwell Collins. "The customizable features of our latest upgrades make an attractive package for business jet operators."

The Atlas Map feature incorporates major highways and highway labels in an illustrative road atlas style with more extensive details on points of interest on the map route.

The World Clock page is a new feature that presents customizable time clock information for any city around the world.

The Flight Deck Instrument Panel page is another new feature that provides passengers a simulated view of flight deck instruments with a choice of applicable flight parameters, and the choice of analog or digital displays.

To increase the ease of use, Rockwell Collins introduced tab-style navigation which will allow customers to browse through the user interface similar to a DVD menu.

All of the features are available via a software upgrade package to existing Airshow 4000 customers.

The Airshow 4000 system offers a full-featured multimedia platform, incorporating a wide variety of capabilities, including 3-D route maps, real-time news feeds, connecting gate information, and points-of-interest media libraries. It captures real-time flight information from the aircraft's flight management computer, long-range navigation system, and aircraft communication systems.  The Airshow 4000 system can use the on board ACARS connection to retrieve current airport terminal information.  For Airshow Network news feeds such as Wall Street Journal, CNN, BBC, Bloomberg and others, the Airshow 4000 system can connect to the aircraft's communications systems.
