Curtiss-Wright Controls receives contract from AgustaWestland

Curtiss-Wright Controls, Inc. today announced that it has been selected by AgustaWestland in Yeovil, UK to provide a custom Vibration Management System (VMS) computer for use on its Rotorcraft Technology Validation Programme (RTVP) demonstrator.

The rugged compact VMS computer will be designed and manufactured at the Curtiss-Wright Controls Electronic Systems business unit in Santa Clarita, CA. The VMS computer, featuring custom I/O and conduction-cooled components, will provide the processing to control vibrations within the Main Rotor Head to reduce the vibration in the airframe. Key features of the VMS computer are its small size, low power, high processing capability and low weight (under 2kg). Given the safety critical application, the VMS will be certifiable up to Level A and Level C of DO-254 and DO-178B specifications.
