Microsemi's Folsom, Calif. facility attains AS9100:2009 Rev C certification

Microsemi Corporation, a leading provider of semiconductor solutions differentiated by power, security, reliability and performance, today announced the company's RF Integrated Solutions (RFIS) facility in Folsom, Calif. achieved compliance with new  AS9100:2009 (Rev C) quality system requirements for aviation, space and defense markets. Microsemi's RFIS facility in Folsom is now certified to the rigorous AS9100 Rev C standard, which includes an increased focus on program and risk management, intensive supply chain management controls, and facility-wide continuous improvement activities that include on-time delivery and product conformity measurement processes. The AS9100 standard is an additional requirement which requires a facility to first be compliant with IS0 9001:2008, a stringent quality management standards for systems and processes. The quality system assessment was conducted by Det Norske Veritas, Inc. (DNV), an ANAB certified third-party registrar. "Maintaining compliance with these standards reflects Microsemi's ongoing emphasis on customer satisfaction and a commitment to product quality through continuous improvement," said Jack Friend, manager of Quality Assurance for Microsemi. "This was a significant effort conducted over several months and every member of our team played a role in this major achievement." The AS9100:2009 (Rev C) standard was developed by the International Aerospace Quality Group (IAQG) in order to satisfy internal, government and regulatory requirements. The goal of the IAQG is to improve product quality and on-time delivery of products. This is accomplished through the cooperative implementation of initiatives intended to make significant improvements in quality and reductions in cost throughout the value stream.
