Paint stripper safely strips powder coatings from aircraft components

10/02/2012

Press releaseIssued by Solvent-Kleene, Inc. and published as received — not written by Airframer’s editors.

D-Zolve™ 1012 is an immersion tank powder coating stripper and remover designed to safely remove several layers of a coating from landing gear and other aircraft components without the need for heating the solution to high temperatures. D-Zolve 1012 penetrates several layers of a powder coating, breaking the bond between the surface coating and the substrate, to peel away and separate the surface coating from the part. It is very effective in stripping coatings from intricate part shapes, including hard-to-remove autophoretic/autodeposition chemical and electro coatings and epoxy primer with cross-linked polyurethane top coats.

D-Zolve 1012 can be safely used with aluminum, magnesium, stainless steel, carbon steel, cadmium coated steel, and titanium. It contains no chlorinated components or other carcinogens. It has no hydrogen embrittling components, no peroxides and is non-acidic. Most coatings can be efficiently removed at room temperatures of 75oF/24oC eliminating the need to heat the D-Zolve 1012 solution. Heating the solution to 110oF/43oC facilitates the removal of difficult to remove coatings.

Designed to minimize health and environmental risks, D-Zolve 1012 is non-carcinogenic, non-flammable, non-acidic, and contains no chlorinated components. It has minimal or no hazardous air pollution potential and is designed to serve as a high performance, safe replacement for methylene chloride that does not structurally degrade aircraft metals.
