Crane Aerospace & Electronics to provide power conditioning modules for Boeing 787

Crane Aerospace & Electronics has been selected by Smiths Aerospace to provide the Power Conditioning Modules for the Boeing 787 Common Core System (CCS). The CCS is an Integrated Modular Avionics system that provides centralized computing functions for the aircraft, replacing many of the multiple computers that have been historically used on earlier aircraft.

Crane Aerospace & Electronics will be supplying four Power Conditioning Modules for each 787 aircraft. The modules provide isolation, conditioning and regulation of the aircraft power system for the CCS.

Crane Aerospace & Electronics also provides power control modules and batteries for the Flight Control Electronics System on the 787. Dave Bender, Electronics Group President for Crane Aerospace & Electronics stated, "We are pleased to have been selected to participate in the development of this critical electronic hardware for this next generation aircraft." In addition to the power control modules, Crane Aerospace & Electronics provides the brake control and monitoring system for the 787 landing gear, as well as the lube and scavenge pumps for the 787 engines.
