Astro-Med signs contract to provide airborne printers for in-flight entertainment system

Astro-Med, Inc., (NASDAQ:ALOT) announced today that it has signed an agreement with a leading in-flight entertainment manufacturer to produce cabin printers as an option for use with in-flight entertainment systems to be installed on the new Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft. Astro-Med, Inc. is a leading manufacturer of specialty printing systems used in aerospace, industrial, and medical applications.

Under the contract, Astro-Med will manufacture a version of its ToughWriter® ruggedized printer to print hard copies of ground communications for use by flight attendants and other aircrew. Hard copies of airport maps, flight itineraries, gate information, and troubleshooting data for other in-flight systems will be printed on standard A4 and B4 size pages.

It is anticipated that Astro-Med will begin making deliveries on its contracts in the second quarter of 2008. The agreement is the latest application of Astro-Med's ToughWriter® airborne printer as part of an in-flight entertainment system. Astro-Med already furnishes cabin printers for in-flight entertainment systems on the Boeing 777, 747, and 767 aircraft. In addition, Astro-Med furnishes cockpit printers which are used to print airport maps and audio ground communications on the Boeing 787, Boeing C-17, and C-130 aircraft.
