Accudyne Systems shipped an Automated Radius Filler (Noodle Former) for filling the gap in wing stringers for the Boeing 787-9. The machine produces five different cross-sections using a single ply of unidirectional carbon prepreg. The machine can run prepreg in widths of 152.4, 304.8 or 457.2 mm (6, 12 or 18 inch). Each part is up to 7.1 meters (23.3 ft) long with cross sections up to 58.1 sq. mm (.090 sq. in). The process takes less than three minutes to produce each part from start to finish. The Radius Filler replaces a labor intensive, hand lay-up process. Machines with additional cross-sections and variable section geometry are also available
