ACSS's T3CAS and XS-950 ADS-B Out capability certified by Airbus for A330s

ACSS, an L-3 & Thales Company, announced today that its T3CAS® Surveillance System and XS-950 Mode S Transponder have been certified by Airbus to DO-260B, the highest level of ADS-B Out capability, for its A330 family of jets. This follows last month's announcement of DO-260B certification for the A320 family of jets. These certifications come ahead of global mandates for Automatic Dependent Surveillance-Broadcast (ADS-B).

ADS-B Out mandates call for new aircraft that fly in Europe to be equipped with compliant Mode S Transponders by June 2016 and all in-service aircraft categories that are impacted to be upgraded by June 2020. In the U.S., all affected aircraft categories must be equipped with this capability no later than January 2020.

“ACSS is very proud to be the only Mode S supplier with certified DO-260B transponders for both A320 and A330 aircraft,” said Terry Flaishans, president of ACSS.

The T3CAS is an advanced integrated surveillance system developed by ACSS, featuring a Traffic Alert & Collision Avoidance System (TCAS), Terrain Awareness Warning System (TAWS), and Mode S Transponder with ADS-B Out transmission capability – all in a single unit. The XS-950 is a dedicated Mode S product that was the first transponder certified to DO-260B readiness in 2011. DO-260B enables ADS-B transmission of more information about an aircraft's position, speed and intent.
