Sigma secures £5m deal

Sigma Components, which forms Avingtrans plc's aerospace division, has today signed a contract worth £5m with global aero-structures company Sonaca.

The contract will see Sigma supplying fabricated details and assemblies to Sonaca for use on programmes including Airbus' single-aisle, Bombardier's C Series and Embraer E2.

Mark Johnson, founder and managing director of Sigma Precision Components, said: “We're really pleased to sign the contract today, which cements our position as a trusted supplier with Sonaca.

“We've developed a strong working relationship with the team over the last few years and this contract is testimony to the mutual commitment that we have made to each other to deliver competitive high quality products to Sonaca's customers.”

Commenting on Sigma's experience of Paris Airshow this year, Mark added: “We've had a fantastic few days, with lots of interest in our new Sigma Lite range and our COMPipe component for aero-engines, which offers verified weight savings of 50% compared to its conventionally-manufactured counterparts.

“The show has a real buzz around it this year, with lots of positive meetings, and this contract is really the icing on the cake.”

Sigma Components manufactures precision engineered components and fixings for the aerospace sector. With its own manufacturing facilities across the UK and in China, it manufactures airframe and power plant components in both traditional materials and composites.
