First 7-bladed composite full feathering reversing propeller on a general aviation aircraft design flight tested

10/01/2017

Press releaseIssued by MT-Propeller Entwicklung GmbH and published as received — not written by Airframer’s editors.

MT-Propeller engineers and test pilots have flight tested the worlds first 7 bladed propeller on a general aviation aircraft, it now begins endurance certification testing on a turbine test bench.

The test flights, 8 flights in total with 5 hrs flight time, contained a functional test, performance test and noise test, and delivered very promising results.

MT-Propeller is in technical talks with turbine engine manufacturers to work together for the certification and customisation of the gear box, so as to get the best out of the unducted prop fan, which MT likes to call the 7 bladed prop.
