Aviat Aircraft has introduced several new upgrades for the Husky A-1C. It is now possible to equip new or existing Huskys with the Garmin G-600 IFR panel. Aviat is the first OEM to offer the G-600. 2" round backup instruments include an altimeter, artificial horizon, airspeed indicator and a backup battery. In addition, it is possible to install an Electronic Instruments MVP50 color engine instrument monitor.
New Huskys are being fitted with vernier throttle and mixture controls, which permit fine tuning for cruise settings, and an enlarged entry door.
The user-friendly G-600 features a large split screen with PFD and MFD functions. The digital electronic attitude indicator is 50% larger than the old 3" artificial horizon. This the first time pilots have had easy access to such a large MFD, right beside the PFD. The system will interface with most autopilots and it will provide GPS horizontal steering data for flying arcs, holding patterns and procedure turns.
The MFD will show where the aircraft is relative to terrain, airspace, weather and traffic. It also provide detailed diagrams of over 850 airports, DPs, STARs and Approach Charts. The unit provides current weather information, displays SIGMETS and AIRMETS.
