Miller adds new Blue Lightning™ low-end TIG arc starting technology to Dynasty® and Maxstar® TIG welders

Press releaseIssued by Miller Electric Mfg Co. and published as received — not written by Airframer’s editors.

Miller Electric Mfg. Co. announced that it has incorporated Blue Lightning high frequency, non-contact arc starting technology on all of its 200-, 350- and 700-amp Dynasty® AC/DC and Maxstar® DC TIG welders. It was previously available only on 200-amp models.

Blue Lightning provides consistent, reliable high-frequency arc starting at all amperages, including as low as 1 amp on Maxstar and Dynasty 200 models, 3 amps on Maxstar and Dynasty 350 models and 5 amps on Maxstar and Dynasty 700 models. Blue Lightning sets the optimal starting parameters based on tungsten size (from 0.020- to 0.250-in. diameter), eliminating operator guesswork.

Blue Lightening technology controls four arc starting variables: amperage, time at amperage, slope time and minimum amperage for various tungsten sizes. This increased control ensures the arc start and eliminates the current over-shoots that cause burn-through. Aerospace welding, tool/die welding and other low amperage TIG applications especially benefit.
