At the beginning of November, Leonardo delivered the 100th Gabbiano radar, as part of an international programme for the Helicopters Division.

Developed in Nerviano (Milan) by Leonardo's Electronics Division, the Gabbiano radar family has a long and successful history of excellence, starting more than 10 years ago with the delivery of the first radar for the ATR-42 aircraft.

Gabbiano is a mechanically scanned radar developed to meet the need of patrolling and surveillance in all weather conditions on ground, air and sea, providing a full set of operational modes that include the High Resolution SAR/ISAR with submetric resolution. It is used in Search and Rescue, Homeland Security and Border Control activities. The Gabbiano Ultra-Light represents the most compact version of the radar family.

High modularity and flexibility, coupled with low weight and power consumption, make it ideal for fixed and rotary wing manned and unmanned platforms. The radar family uses state-of-the-art production and validation processes carried out by highly qualified and committed personnel, leveraging the continuous improvement approach of the Leonardo Production System model.

Over the past decade, more than 20 international and several national customers, including Guardia di Finanza, Italian Coast Guard, Italian Navy and Italian Air Force, selected the Gabbiano radar for their surveillance activities.
