Zeleros participates in Spanish pioneering project for electric aircraft propulsion and hyperloop applications

Zeleros, participating in a consortium with Industria de Turbo Propulsores, ITP Next Generation Turbines, Egiles Mechanics, Ingeteam R&D Europe, and Umiles, has been selected in the project APERTURAS (Advancements in Electric Propulsion with Turbomachines) to develop the batteries of two aircraft propulsive electric demonstrators and to study electric turbomachine technology for hyperloop applications.

This technological project of 8,9 million euros of budget is financially supported by the Technological Center for Innovation in Spain (CDTI), under the Spanish Ministry of Science and Innovation and co-financed with Next Generation EU funds with the objective of developing new technologies to enable innovative and sustainable transport systems.

Zeleros' scope under APERTURAS

Zeleros will develop two batteries to cover different mobility market needs: while the first battery will feed a demonstrator with power optimum for applications such as EVtols, air taxis or transport drones, the second is conceived for high-power required for regional aviation.

In addition, Zeleros will study the application of the turbomachine technology for specific needs of the hyperloop system, as well as specific aerodynamic aspects derived from tube pressure levels, and the propulsive discharge in a low-pressure tube.

“This project is a great opportunity to both participate in the development of electric aircraft drivetrain systems and keep advancing in hyperloop technology. APERTURAS also consolidates our industrial partnership with ITP and allows strengthening the Spanish supply chain proposing safe and effective electric mobility solutions” said David Pistoni, CEO of Zeleros.

A study of all integrated systems by the consortium with motor, battery and inverter will also make part of this project.

APERTURAS adds to other projects in which Zeleros participates to develop integral design of high-performance electric applications, such as PERTE-VEC or MODALT, among others, further positioning the company as a pioneer of advanced e-mobility technologies.
