Beaver Aerospace & Defense to supply electromechanical landing gear actuator to Mecaer Aviation Group

20/07/2010

Press releaseIssued by Beaver Aerospace & Defense, Inc. and published as received — not written by Airframer’s editors.

Beaver Aerospace & Defense, Inc., a global leader in the design and manufacturing of unique and broad-range actuation technologies, will supply its electromechanical landing gear actuator to Mecaer Aviation Group (MAG), a leading international provider of solutions for aircraft actuation and landing systems. The actuator, which is currently on display at the 2010 Farnborough Airshow, employs an emergency freefall deployment feature that allows the landing gear to be safely engaged in the event of a power outage. This groundbreaking technology allows aircraft manufacturers to reduce weight and maintenance by completely eliminating hydraulic systems.

"Beaver is honored that MAG selected our electromechanical landing gear actuator," said Jason Ratcliffe, General Manager of Beaver Aerospace & Defense. "Our innovative technology and industry-leading on-time delivery played a significant role in Mecaer's decision."

Mecaer will utilize the actuator in their landing gear system, which will be installed on the PiperJet, a single-engine very light jet (VLJ) manufactured by Piper Aircraft.

"We are very pleased that Beaver Aerospace & Defense came on board," said Armando Sassoli, GM of Business Development at Mecaer Aviation Group. "We know Beaver will meet our expectations, to the ultimate benefit of the end customer."
