Plug and drive: measurement wheel evolution

04/08/2006

Press releaseIssued by Caesar DataSystems GmbH and published as received — not written by Airframer’s editors.

More than 30 years experience has already flowed into the design, development and real application of RS Technologies measurement wheels. Nonetheless the already extremely durable construction wheels are continuing to evolve: Improved patch cords and connection parts make the wheels particularly suitable for use under less favorable loading and site conditions, for example, off road testing of SUVs or when completely immersed in water.

Coupled with the changes is a dramatic improvement of the cyclic testing behavior. The wheels may be called "Plug and Drive": The assembly, adjustment and set up of these measuring wheels are extremely easy and simple. Using prefabricated adapter flanges the preparation time per wheel takes barely longer than a normal changing of a tire. The wheel nuts always remain freely accessible, which facilitates a fast change of the vehicle configuration.

For data transfer from the rotary wheel to the stationary measuring system both slip-ring and contactless telemetry systems are available. Data can also be recorded and analyzed via an optional CANbus data interface.

CAESAR is able to offer the complete family of 6-component measurement wheels from RSTech for all vehicle sizes - from the smallest passenger car to the heaviest truck. Test and calibration of the measuring wheels is also available using CAESAR's own dynamic test stand in Munich.
