AIC provides energy efficient advanced composite ovens to Terma Group

05/04/2016

Press releaseIssued by VFE Vacuum Furnace Engineering (Busch).

AIC Group has completed delivery of an advanced composite processing oven to Terma Aerostructures A/S in Denmark. Designed to give outstanding performance to aerospace material specification pyrometry standard AMS2570E with exceptional temperature uniformity and increased energy efficiency, the oven will be used for production of advanced aircraft components.

The oven will operate on AIC's leading PLC control system (AMCS) providing dynamic heating, cooling and vacuum control to predetermined profiles. AMCS delivers a robust and easy to use software interface and is fully integrated into Terma's network to allow seamless data transfer and sharing.

The oven achieves a maximum temperature of 365°F with a controllable dynamic heat-up rate between 3°F- 8°F/minute. A cooling inlet and exhaust damper assembly with power exhaust produce cooling to 60°F. Air circulation, crucial to the oven performance, is fully controlled via AMCS.

Terma is an international supplier of highly engineered products with capabilities for the aerospace, defence and security sectors.

Nigel Clifford from AIC said: “We are pleased to be providing this bespoke advanced composite oven to Terma Aerostructures as part of an ongoing partnership which will help them to continue delivering for their customers efficiently and effectively.”

Carsten Rasmussen of Terma said: “AIC's advanced composite ovens will help us to develop our capability in composites technology. They are at the cutting edge of oven technology and are very energy efficient.”
