DTA Aircraft and Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University announce student partnership on a flying hybrid eVTOL

DTA Aircraft and Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University have entered into a partnership that connects Embry-Riddle students with the development of the JP1, DTA Aircraft's two-seater hybrid-electric personal eVTOL.

Through the DTA Aircraft Student Programme, students will take on real engineering challenges on an aircraft that already flies. Capstone projects and direct engagement with DTA's engineering team will cover aerodynamics, airframe structure and hybrid-electric propulsion. Students gain practical experience, and the work supports the JP1's development and DTA Aircraft's U.S. manufacturing plans.

The JP1 has logged 200+ hours of flight testing in France. Its series hybrid powertrain gives it two full hours of flight with two people on board, while pure electric aircraft in its class stay under an hour. The aircraft is on a Light Sport Aircraft certification path under the FAA's MOSAIC rule.

The partnership is built to strengthen Arizona's growing aerospace and advanced air mobility ecosystem. It brings students, researchers and industry professionals together around an aircraft being brought to market in the state, and builds the engineering talent that U.S. production will need.
