Press releaseIssued by W.L. Gore & Associates.

W. L. Gore & Associates, Inc. (Gore) is pleased to announce that GORE® Microwave/RF Assemblies, 7 Series were installed in the SmartSky Networks King Air B200 airborne test platform developed to optimize their new air-to-ground network and test future technologies and applications. Gore engineers worked closely with SmartSky to design and provide high-performance, vapor-sealed microwave/RF assemblies in a very short timeframe, allowing SmartSky to continue to stay on schedule with the deployment of the aircraft test resource.

“Performance, ease of installation, and reliability of the coaxial cables utilized in the SmartSky 4G LTE system are all important factors for ensuring a lifetime of customer satisfaction in a modern, next-generation connectivity solution,” said Darren Emery, SmartSky's Vice President of Product Support. “The team at Gore provided us with a set of high-quality cables in a very short timeframe. We look forward to the benefits we'll see over the life of the aircraft as we test and deploy the premier 4G LTE-based network dedicated exclusively to aviation.”

With a smaller diameter, greater flexibility and tighter bend radius, Gore's 7 Series lowloss cable was an ideal solution for the complex routing needed within the tight confines of SmartSky's King Air B200 test aircraft. Gore's robust, low-profile replaceable connectors allowed for quick configuration changes during the building of SmartSky's test lab environment given the flexibility of connector ends on the selected cables.

High-Performance Vapor-Sealed Assemblies GORE®

Microwave/RF Assemblies, 7 Series are designed precisely to prevent the ingress of water vapor, fuel, and other hazardous contaminants commonly found in airborne environments. These assemblies routinely maintain low insertion loss, low return loss, and excellent phase stability while providing outstanding shielding effectiveness in challenging aerospace environments.
