Hanwha Systems - AESA radar prototype release ceremony

10/08/2020

Press releaseIssued by Hanwha Group.

Key figures related to the project attended the launching ceremony of the AESA radar, including the CEO of Hanwha Systems, the head of the future power business division of the Defense Acquisition Program Administration, and the head of the Defense Science Research Institute.

The AESA radar is a radar for fighter aircraft that has been developed under the supervision of the Defense Science Research Institute since 2016, and is core equipment for the KF-X. In particular, it is called the'eye' of a fighter because it can detect and track targets in real time by independently operating about a thousand transceiver modules.

There were once many concerns that it was 'impossible' to develop AESA radars in Korea without technology transfer abroad. This prototype is significant in that we have conducted ground tests, inspections, and flight tests since 2017, and finally successfully shipped the AESA radar prototype to be mounted on the KF-X today.
