Harwin, manufacturer of hi-rel interconnect solutions and cost-saving PCB hardware products, has announced that Flir Systems, the leader in thermal imaging technology, is using its hirel Datamate connector system on several of its airborne systems including helicopter and UAV-mounted equipment.
Harwin's Datamate 2mm pitch connectors ensure integrity of connection in harsh environments, being able to withstand 100G shock, 40G bump and 10G vibration. Datamate is available in a wide range of board-to-board, board-to-cable and cable-to-cable options and includes a mixed technology version, Datamate Mix-Tek, which enables up to 50 signal or 12 power or coaxial contacts to be combined within one compact connector housing, saving space and increasing design flexibility.
Explained David Timmons, Harwin's Western Regional Sales Manager: "Flir uses many of our Datamate connectors in applications such as helicopter gimbals which are subject to huge vibration forces as well as UAVs which require small, lightweight connectors to avoid impacting negatively on the available payload.."
