HENSOLDT integrates its own avionics suite into India's first electric air taxi

31/08/2026

Press releaseIssued by HENSOLDT Sensors GmbH.

The ePlane Company (Ubifly Technologies), India's leading developer of electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft, has placed a firm order with HENSOLDT for its flagship "e200X". For HENSOLDT, the order confirms the shift from joint development to series maturity, moving the avionics into firm procurement.

Michael Groeninger, Managing Director of HENSOLDT Avionics, said: "We are proud to support ePlane in their mission to alleviate urban congestion. Our avionics are designed for the most demanding missions, and the operational profile of an eVTOL in India is the ultimate proving ground. Together, we are defining the standards for situational awareness in the Advanced Air Mobility sector."

HENSOLDT supplies what ePlane describes as the "digital nervous system" of the e200X. An avionics suite for navigation, situational awareness and secure connectivity in dense urban airspace. The "EuroNav 7 NG" digital moving map handles navigation and mission management within the urban canyon. The "CaviSight" visual landing aid switches camera feeds to give the crew a clear, augmented view during the critical phases of take-off and landing. The "RF1 Smart Antenna" provides cooperative traffic awareness, alerting the crew to other aircraft nearby. "CaviConnect" establishes the secure data link between aircraft and ground station, enabling the exchange required for fleet management and health monitoring. The "EB1 Multipurpose Airborne Computer" adds the onboard processing power to run mission-critical applications and to prepare the platform for future autonomous functions. The "LCR100" lightweight flight data recorder is a key enabler of safety, certification, and operational excellence. The integration of the "SferiRec LCR 100" ensures reliable recording of critical flight data to enhance operational insight and enable data-driven fleet management.

The order coincides with several programme milestones at ePlane. The company has completed assembly of its full-scale prototype, bringing the "e200X's" major subsystems together in a single structure for the first time, and has moved from the design stage into testing. The "e200X" now enters an extensive ground-test campaign ahead of flight trials and type certification with India's Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA).
