Hexagon Metrology UK opens new Precision Centre

On 9th January Hexagon Metrology UK celebrated the opening of a new Precision Centre in Chester, North West England. During the event Mr. Richard Noble OBE, Project Director of the BLOODHOUND Project, kicked off proceedings by cutting the ribbon and welcoming guests into the new facility.

Located just a stone's throw from Airbus UK in Broughton, the new Chester Precision Centre is positioned to offer unparalleled service to customers in the North West, especially those in the Aerospace sector. Alongside demonstrations and training the main function of the facility will be for the service and calibration of Laser Trackers, offering the quickest possible service as close to Northern customers as possible.

Alongside presentations from Hexagon Metrology, Richard Noble delivered a fitting keynote speech about how the BLOODHOUND team will create a jet and rocket powered car designed to go at 1,000 mph whilst confronting and overcoming the impossible using science, technology, engineering and mathematics – all aspects on which the new Precision Centre is based.

The new Precision Centre complements existing Hexagon Metrology facilities already operating in Telford (HQ), Milton Keynes, Swindon and Belfast. Everyone at the event received a Hexagon Metrology sponsored BLOODHOUND SSC Fin Certificate and all the names will appear on the record breaking car.
