Indiana materials testing laboratory earns Nadcap Merit status

02/04/2013

Press releaseIssued by Element Materials Technology, Daleville.

Sherry Laboratories' materials testing laboratory in Daleville, Ind. has earned renewal of Nadcap accreditation with Merit status. Nadcap accreditation is critical to many of Sherry Laboratories' aerospace customers throughout the supply chain.

This renewal extends accreditation through April 30, 2015, and approves the Indiana laboratory to perform tests on metallic specimens including chemistry, mechanical testing, metallography, microhardness, hardness, corrosion, and weld testing. As a result of the materials laboratory's most recent Nadcap audit, the lab added accreditation to perform Inductively Coupled Plasma (ICP) in our chemical analysis laboratory. ICP-OES technology provides a complimentary technique which we can use for wet chemistry in addition to our Direct Current Plasma (DCP) and Atomic Absorption (AA Flame/AA Graphite Furnace). Our Metals Chemistry Department will become more efficient through the use of automation for this instrument to help reduce turn times and fulfill our delivery promises to clients with exceptional quality in routine analyses.

“We are pleased to announce our renewal of Nadcap accreditation with Merit status,” said Paulette Slabaugh, Quality Assurance Manager in Daleville. “Nadcap accreditation is one of the ways in which the aerospace industry signifies excellence and quality in the supply chain. Achieving Merit status is a testament to the quality testing we offer and shows the level of commitment we have to our partners in the aerospace industry.”

Renewal of Nadcap approval complements an already impressive roster of approvals for Sherry's Indiana materials testing lab. In additional to being Nadcap approved and accredited to ISO 17025 by A2LA (American Association for Laboratory Accreditation) , other notable prime aerospace approvals include Bell Helicopter, Boeing, Bombardier, Cessna, GE Aviation, Gulfstream Aerospace, Pratt & Whitney, Rolls Royce, Sikorsky, Snecma – Group Safran and Volvo Aero. The Indiana materials testing laboratory is also ITAR registered and compliant.

Sherry Laboratories Daleville, Ind., provides metallurgical testing services as well as failure analysis and reverse engineering for clients in a variety of industries, including aerospace, defense, orthopedics, automotive and power generation.
