Innovative Aerosystems selected by Dornier Seawings to provide Liberty Data Acquisition Unit for Seastar aircraft

26/10/2026

Press releaseIssued by Innovative Aerosystems (was Innovative Solutions & Support Inc. (IS&S)).

Innovative Aerosystems (IA) today announced that it has been selected by Dornier Seawings, a leading manufacturer of composite amphibious aircraft, to provide its Liberty Data Acquisition Unit (DAU) for the Dornier Seastar aircraft. Built on IA's proven Utilities Management System (UMS) technology, the Liberty DAU serves as the central intelligence hub of the Company's broader Liberty avionics package and will deliver critical data processing and management capabilities to the Seastar platform.

Under the programme, IA will develop, test, certify and produce the Liberty DAU for integration into the Seastar aircraft. The programme began in September 2026 and is expected to progress through design reviews, prototype hardware deliveries, qualification testing and certification, with Technical Standard Order achievement currently targeted for 2028. Dornier Seawings expects to deliver approximately 300 aircraft over the first ten years of the programme.

"We are excited to be partnering with Dornier Seawings, a firm that shares our passion for engineering expertise and brings a strong heritage of more than 100 years of developing innovative aviation products," said Shahram Askarpour, Chief Executive Officer of Innovative Aerosystems. "This selection demonstrates the value of our investment in proprietary technology and the versatility of our Liberty avionics architecture. By leveraging our established Utilities Management System technology, we can deliver advanced, scalable solutions tailored to individual aircraft programs. We continue to pursue a robust pipeline of opportunities that expand our content on aircraft platforms, deepen our OEM relationships and drive long-term growth."

The dual-channel Liberty DAU acquires, processes and validates data from multiple aircraft sensors, distributing essential information throughout the avionics architecture. This capability supports key aircraft functions, including engine indication, crew alerting, system synoptics and flight data recording integration. The scope also includes aircraft integration, qualification and certification support, ground and flight-test support, and training, leveraging IA's engineering and manufacturing capabilities across the full product lifecycle.
