"Irkut" Corporation pioneered among the Russian aircraft manufacturers to obtain the international EN9100 certificate

27/05/2008

Press releaseIssued by JSC Yakovlev Corporation (Irkutsk Aviation Plant).

On 27th May at ILA-2008 (Berlin) Irkut Corporation President Oleg Demchenko received the Quality Management System (QMS) certificates ISO 9001:2000 & EN/AS 9100:2003. These certificates were presented by Igor Appinger, chief auditor of "Bureau Veritas Certification", world leader in certification services. The ceremony was held in the presence of Denis Manturov, Russia's deputy minister for industry and trade.

JSC "Irkut" Corporation" became the first Russian aircraft manufacturer to have its quality management system certified against EN 9100 by an independent international certification agency.

In order to make it possible the Corporation invested much effort in bringing own QMS in line with the international norms and standards, which was envisaged by the contractual documents with Airbus while implementing the A320 airliner components' manufacturing program. The results of the aforementioned independent evaluation ensure Irkut further produces components for Airbus and EADS and takes a well-deserved place among world's aircraft manufacturers.

Therefore "Irkut" Corporation pioneered in Russia's aircraft industry in certifying its QMS and production facilities against three drastically different certification systems, i.e.:

OASIS (Online Aerospace Supplier Information System) – to be able to produce aircraft and components for international customers;

Military register – to produce military-purpose aircraft;

Aviation register of the Interstate Aviation Committee – to develop and manufacture civilian aircraft.

During the ceremony Irkut President Oleg Demchenko highlighted, "We owe these certificates acknowledging that our quality management system meets international standards to the hard team-work of Irkut. The key idea being that while developing our business we must be guided by the modern technologies both in production and in management. This will secure the Corporation even more successfully competes in the market and prepares for mastering the perspective MC-21 airliner".
