Press releaseIssued by NASA Glenn Research Center.

NASA's Glenn Research Center has awarded contracts to three companies to provide propulsion airframe integration and airframe systems technologies in support of the agency's aerospace propulsion research and technology development activities.

Each of the three indefinite-delivery, indefinite-quantity contracts provide for fixed price, cost share and cost reimbursement competitive tasks with a maximum value of $12 million over the next five years.

The companies selected are The Boeing Company, Boeing Research and Technology of Seattle, Wash.; Lockheed Martin Corporation, Lockheed Martin Aeronautics Company of Fort Worth, Texas; and Northrop Grumman Corporation Integrated Systems Western Region of El Segundo, Calif.

The selected companies will perform work in three discipline areas including: concept development and systems studies, airframe integrated inlets, engines and exhaust nozzles and airframe icing.

The work will provide for the development and demonstration of advanced technologies to improve and optimize overall integrated propulsion - airframe system performance, weight, emissions, safety, fuel burn, noise, life and efficiency.
