New horizons: Ruag Aerostructures becomes part of Mubea, a leader in lightweight construction

The Swiss aerospace group Ruag International has sold all shares in Ruag Aerostructures Germany & Hungary to the German Mubea Group at the end of December 2023. The final transfer of ownership (closing) marks another successful step in the implementation of Ruag International's privatization strategy.

Over many decades, Ruag Aerostructures Germany & Hungary has continuously expanded its position as technology leader and exclusive supplier in the aerostructures market. With the final transfer of ownership (closing) of all shares to the German Mubea Group at the end of December, the success story can be continued and the leading position in the aerostructures market further strengthened.

André Wall, CEO of Ruag International, is convinced: "Mubea offers the ideal platform to further strengthen the capabilities of Aerostructures Germany & Hungary in aerostructures and opens up new horizons. The agreement is above all a result of our employees and an award for their continuous commitment, which has also recently been recognized with the Airbus Global Supplier Award for Operational Excellence."

New perspectives for customers and employees

The approximately 1,000 employees of Ruag Aerostructures Germany & Hungary at the Oberpfaffenhofen and Eger sites will become part of Mubea Aviation GmbH at the beginning of 2024. The Mubea Group, a renowned family business, is an innovative lightweight construction specialist with over 14,000 employees at 50 production sites worldwide. “The technological leadership, the high reliability, as well as the high competence and motivation of the employees perfectly fit to Mubea. Ruag International with focus on the space market

The divestment marks another successful step in the implementation of Ruag International's privatization strategy and represents a major milestone on the way to becoming an agile company focused on the growing space market. Ruag International Holding presently consists of the space division Beyond Gravity (formerly Ruag Space) and the Swiss aerostructures business based in Emmen. Ruag International Holding, which is still wholly owned by the Swiss Confederation, is to be fully privatized by end of 2025 at the latest.
