New Line of Sight (LOS) module adds cueing capability to Elbit Systems' latest generation ANVIS/HUD for helicopters

The recent addition of Line of Sight (LOS) cueing capability makes Elbit Systems' latest generation ANVIS/HUD-24T (Tracker) a truly leading head-out flight solution. The LOS module is an important feature not only for attack helicopter pilots but also for utility and assault flight crews. The LOS improves situational awareness and elevates the level of crew coordination. With the LOS module there is comprehensive correlation with what the pilot views and the outside world. Waypoints may be designated on the navigation system. Additionally, the system provides the invaluable advantage of allowing each crew member to track the other's field of view, eliminating the need for verbal communication among them and thus reducing the risk of transferring imprecise information. The ANVIS/HUD-24T provides pilots with the ability to slave weapons and sensors against enemy air and ground targets thus providing a better sensor to shooter solution. The new LOS option is adaptable to any existing helmet.

Based on Elbit Systems' extensive know-how derived from generations of ANVIS/HUD design, development and operation, the company's latest iteration, the ANVIS/HUD-24T, is equipped with even more advanced features and flexibility. Now offering 24-hour operational capability, the ANVIS/HUD-24T combines a standard Night Vision Goggles (NVG) scene with aircraft flight data. Adding the Day HUD "plug and play" module, fitted on any standard NVG helmet-mount, the same data is displayed during daytime flight.

Whether in operation day or night, the ANVIS/HUD-24T provides helicopter pilots with all-important advantages, among them, head-out flight safety, expanded mission capabilities, increased situational awareness and enhanced crew coordination.

The ANVIS/HUD-24T may be installed in any helicopter type – western or eastern, bused or un-bused – and can interface and support vast aircraft systems. The system enables independent dual cockpit, HOCAS driver operation.

The feature-rich system is equipped with high-resolution flat panel displays which are more lightweight, compact and less of a burden on the pilot. Advanced capabilities also include ability to perform weapon ballistic calculations.

Already operational on over 5,000 helicopters and 25 different types of platforms worldwide, the ANVIS/HUD off-the-shelf system has been selected by the US Army, US Navy, US Marine Corps, US Coast Guard, Boeing, Bell, Sikorsky, Agusta and many other customers, after stringent examination and competition with other helmet-mounted system manufacturers.

Additionally, the ANVIS/HUD-24T has been selected for several different programs in a number of countries, including programs for the US Army and US Navy.
