New, pitch link control bearing system establishes benchmark for long-life performance

25/02/2013

Press releaseIssued by New Hampshire Ball Bearings, Inc..

New Hampshire Ball Bearings, Inc. (NHBB), Laconia, New Hampshire, introduces INVINSYS®, a new, innovative pitch control bearing technology for rotary wing applications. The INVINSYS® bearing system features patent-pending technology that lasts up to two and a half times longer than previous long-life designs, according to tests conducted by NHBB, resulting in a significant performance advantage and the potential to dramatically reduce maintenance and repair costs of pitch link systems.

The INVINSYS® bearing system consists of an enhanced, self-lubricating liner paired with a specially coated ball that is engineered for superior wear resistance. Research and dynamic testing conducted by NHBB shows that INVINSYS® offers extremely low wear – .003 in. or less – over 1,500 hours, making it one of the longest lasting wear solutions on the market.

In addition to superior wear resistance, INVINSYS® is highly resistant to moisture absorption as well as the high alkaline compounds found in most cleaning solutions, which can shorten bearing life. INVINSYS® also shares the same dimensional envelope as previous generations of NHBB pitch control systems, making it the ideal solution on new or existing programs, without costly redesign of an existing platform to achieve extended operating life of rotary pitch link systems.

The INVINSYS® pitch link control bearing system is another in a broad line of leading-edge, technological solutions for the aerospace industry from NHBB, a premier supplier of precision bearings, assemblies and systems for aerospace manufacturers.
