New Hampshire Ball Bearings, Inc. (NHBB), Laconia, New Hampshire, introduces Oscimax®, a new, uniquely advanced, machinable, self-lubricating liner technology. Oscimax® reportedly offers superior wear resistance and exceptionally long life that increases the performance of complex bearing systems and assemblies for the aerospace industry.
Oscimax® is a homogenous formulation consisting of a proprietary matrix of thermosetting polymeric resins, PTFE and various other compounds, resulting in a technology that offers less wear, longer life, superior corrosion resistance, ease of machining and versatile application to a variety of metallic surfaces. These product characteristics make Oscimax® the ideal liner and fretting barrier for bearings and other products used in engine and airframe applications, including landing gear, flight control actuators, engine controls thrust reversers, VGV systems, and virtually any application that will benefit from longer service life and lasting resistance to moisture and corrosion.
Oscimax® XT, the initial version of this leading-edge technology, is qualified to AS81934 and exceeds all aspects of the standard's performance requirements beyond 100,000 cycles. Tests conducted at ambient temperature with no contaminants have resulted in liner wear rates under .004 in. at approximately one million cycles.
