Press releaseIssued by Rolls-Royce plc Civil Aerospace.

Rolls-Royce, the global power systems company, has received approval from the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) for an enhanced "Package B" version of the Trent 1000 engine which powers the Boeing 787 Dreamliner.

The Package B version of the Trent 1000, which is certified to 70,000lb take-off thrust, will enter service with All Nippon Airways (ANA) shortly.

Simon Carlisle, Rolls-Royce, Programme Director – Trent 1000, said: "This is a significant milestone at the end of a year of considerable achievement for the Trent 1000, including powering the entry into service of the 787 Dreamliner. As with all our programmes, we remain committed to continually improving engine performance as our technology advances."

The Trent 1000 powered the 787 Dreamliner entry into service with All Nippon Airways (ANA) on October 26.

The engine, the quietest and most efficient available on the 787 Dreamliner, has been selected in eight of the last nine 787 Dreamliner engine competitions and now has a total of 23 customers.
