VisiConsult, a specialist of X-ray inspection solutions, supported ROSSI AERO with their NADCAP accreditation.

Aerospace supplier

The ROSSI AREO group, based in Toulouse, produces detailed parts and subassemblies for aeronautics, and are specialised in high-speed production and high complexity parts.

Rossi Aero first joined the NADCAP accreditation program in 2018 with TIG welding, and continued in 2020 with NDT fluorescent penetrant inspection, and has now in 2021 obtained Digital x-ray Nadcap certification despite COVID constraints.

Genesis of the project

ROSSI AERO was looking for a large, integrated digital x-ray system for aeronautical welding inspection on detailed parts and sub-assemblies. The system was required to reach a high spatial resolution, as well as achieve compliance with Airbus, Airbus Canada, Bombardier and Nadcap requirements.

As the project was challenging, it was important to select a "trusted" supplier and a reliable machine/software combination that was able to achieve the high standards while meeting each and every point of the required aerospace OEM specifications and NADCAP requirements.

Important steps

Rossi Aero received its VisiConsult XRH222 XL in April 2019, and immediately following installation started working on the integration and qualification of the system.

Rossi Aero was qualified XRAY DR by Airbus commercial Aircraft (AITM6-7007) in June 2020, Airbus Canada Limited in November 2020, and Nadcap accredited In April 2021.

Project Review

Rossi's management is pleased to announce: "We are very proud to have obtained our Nadcap accreditation as this latest x-ray technology was new for the Rossi Aero team in 2019.

At the beginning of the project, we were complete novices in this technology, and I thank the "VisiConsult" team who helped select the perfect machine for us.

Our end-customer's qualification and Nadcap accreditation were the initial objective of the project. Thanks to a reliable and well-designed machine, the VisiConsult support team and to the hard work of the Rossi Aero team, we successfully reached the objective as initially scheduled."

Group Rossi Aero is now more autonomous regarding their welding inspections, and has reduced the welding production cycle by 10 working days thanks to the digital x-ray inspection machine.

Philippe Meynard: "The VisiConsult team is happy again to see one more of their systems in France certified. The Rossi Aero team made a great job and achieved a very high-quality standard. I'm proud of them and of our system."
