SL-Laser projection system integrates new features into industry proven solution

22/01/2008

Press releaseIssued by SL Laser GmbH.

SL-Laser the number one supplier of Europe's leading aerospace manufacturers has introduced a number of new features in its industry proven projection system. The SL3D V4.0 software offers Multitooling and a powerful new digitizing interface while it handles files from CATIA V4 and V5 and all other leading CAD/CAM programs.

Multitooling enables simultaneous projection on multiple tools with one projector. Even the challenging task of using several projectors on more than one tool is handled with amazing simplicity. SL3D automatically splits the images and distributes the segments among the lasers. The utilization of the installed system is enhanced notably by reducing the number of projectors per tool. Productivity is further increased by providing a separate user interface for each tool through individual WINDOWS CE® wireless handheld ProCommander (see image).

ProCommander shows the actual ply on a graphical display and allows the technician to control all steps on one tool remotely and independently.

To round up the system SL-Laser has added a powerful digitizing interface to SL3D where no projection data is available. SL3D-Arm is a digitizing arm with an accuracy of 0.3mm.

Handling is easy and time saving. By simply redrawing the ply boundaries with its pencil-like tip laser data is produced and projected simultaneously. A powerful yet simple to use toolbox of polygon and spline functions converts the coordinates to curves in realtime. Reference points are taken in the same way. While the contour grows on the screen SL3D automatically optimizes for multi head projection. As soon as the last curve is finished the complete information on all plies and work steps is saved in a work file and production can start. An optional rail adds extended range for large tools. Alternatively SL3D-ProCollector a laser based digitizer works for very large tools. More detailed information can be found on www.SL-Laser.com.
