Syncroness gains AS9100 revision D and ISO 9001:2015 certifications

Syncroness, an Alten company based in Westminster, Colorado, earned their quality management certification to AS9100 revision D and ISO 9001:2015 this week for product development. AS9100D, an aerospace and defense standard for quality management, is technically equivalent to EN 9100:2016 and JISQ 9100:2016, and the certification declares that Syncroness' quality system conforms to the requirements of these standards in the area of product design and development.

"The two-year process we undertook to earn this certification reflects our commitment to providing complete solutions that meet or exceed our customers' rigorous quality requirements."

Focusing on development of products in highly regulated industries, Syncroness adds these certifications to an existing ISO 13485:2016 certificate for quality management in the medical device arena. Managing a "hybrid" quality system like this requires a heavy focus on planning for each project, allowing project teams to excel in areas specific to the class and category of product they're working on. Each development phase of each product category has different quality requirements and varying levels of design control rigor, which means the effectiveness of the quality system depends on Syncroness' practice of front-loading their work with proper planning.

Proper planning is the cornerstone of Quality-by-Design (QbD); it's a far better process to anticipate product issues and build quality into a design than the costly practice of reacting to product issues with late design changes. Syncroness has leveraged their existing QbD philosophy into three rigorous and overlapping quality certifications, an achievement that wouldn't be possible without the investment we've made in the planning processes.
