Teijin Carbon unveils Tenax Next: a sustainable revolution in carbon fibers

03/03/2025

Press releaseIssued by Teijin Carbon Europe GmbH.

Teijin Carbon, a producer of carbon fibers and carbon fiber-based materials, is launching a new brand for its next generation of carbon fiber products. The Tenax Next brand is redefining what is possible in sustainable carbon fiber materials.

Tenax Next represents a remarkable leap forward in eco-conscious material science. Featuring circular feedstock with a significantly reduced carbon footprint, the carbon fiber materials under this new brand maintain the strength, durability and performance that Tenax carbon fiber products are known for. This innovation aligns with Teijin Carbon's commitment to sustainability and addresses growing demand for environmentally responsible, high-performance materials.

“With Tenax Next we're driving the evolution of carbon fiber technology. We've developed a new generation of materials that meet the growing demand for sustainable solutions," said Jörg Friedrich, CTO of Teijin Carbon Europe. "And this is just the beginning. We are delivering top-tier performance while pushing forward circularity and advancing the optimization of production processes."

The development of Tenax Next has been met with enthusiasm from industry partners. Marc Fette, CEO of the Composite Technology Center of Airbus Company, stated, "Teijin’s development of Tenax Next HTS45 E23 24K carbon fiber filament yarn, offering a significant CO2 saving for future advanced materials, has reshaped our expectations. It’s amazing to see a material that not only delivers outstanding performance but also aligns perfectly with our sustainability ambition.”

Tenax Next materials are set to revolutionize industries ranging from aerospace and automotive to pressure vessels and high-quality industrial applications by offering eco-friendly alternatives without compromising on quality or performance.

Teijin Carbon will be launching two new Tenax Next carbon fiber products at JEC World 2025 in Paris, demonstrating how innovation and sustainability can go hand in hand. Tenax Next HTS45 E23 24K filament yarn offers a 35 percent reduction in CO₂ emissions compared to existing solutions, while maintaining excellent processability, high performance and the renowned quality standards of Tenax. The other new product, Tenax Next R2S 513 6mm short carbon fiber, is made from repurposed materials. With a strong focus on circularity, Teijin Carbon aims to conserve valuable resources and promote the reuse of materials in a true end-of-life cycle.
