Telephonics Corporation, a wholly owned subsidiary of Griffon Corporation (NYSE:GFF), announced today that it has delivered the AN/UPX-43(V)1 Identification Friend or Foe Interrogator (IFFI) to Boeing for installation into one of its P-8A Poseidon test aircraft. The IFF will be installed on P-8A "T2", the first flight test aircraft being assembled and tested with the mission software and sensors as part of the System Development and Demonstration contract awarded by the U.S. Navy.
"Telephonics looks forward to providing Navy operators with the unprecedented performance and mission utility of the AN/UPX-43(V)1 IFFI. This flight test phase brings the program a significant step closer to production, fleet deployment, and long term support activities" said Mr. Andy Webster, Sr. Director of Business Development, Radar Systems Division, at Telephonics. The U.S. Navy is purchasing 117 P-8As to replace its aging fleet of P-3C aircraft.
The Telephonics AN/UPX-40, AN/UPX-43(V) and AN/UPX-505(V) All-Mode IFF Interrogators share a common module design approach with multiple platforms for the USN, USAF, USMC and Canadian DND. These platforms include Airborne Early Warning, Rotary Wing, Fixed Wing, Ground Transportable, Ground Fixed, and Ship board applications.
