05/12/2017

Press releaseIssued by The Gill Corporation.

The Gill Corporation Chairman and CEO, Stephen Gill, is pleased to announce that The Gill Corporation has successfully passed their AS9100, Revision D Certification audit.

AS9100 is the quality management system (QMS) standard for the aviation, space and defense industries. Released in September 2016, AS9100 Revision D is the latest release of the standard set by SAE International. The Aerospace Basic Quality System Standard was developed by a group of US aerospace prime contractors under the auspices of the Society of Automotive Engineers. The standard is based on ISO 9000 (International Organization for Standardization) with requirements that are unique to the aerospace industry. ISO 9000 relates to quality management systems that address systemic changes.

AS 9100 Rev. D identifies 16 additional standards that can be integrated into AS9100. Significant changes introduced in Revision D include:

Product Safety – awareness as to how product quality impacts safety of the end user

Counterfeit Parts Prevention

Increased emphasis on Risk-based Thinking

Awareness of the individual contribution to quality and ethical behavior

Consideration of the Human Factor in non-conformances

Context of the Organization

Expectations of Interested Parties

Quality Assurance Director Patrick Chiu oversaw the audit process which was conducted by AS9100 auditors over five days in late November. At the conclusion of the audit Stephen Gill shared "The quality standards in our industry get tougher every day. We're committed to quality and staying ahead of the curve. The audit findings show that the name Gill stands for quality throughout the industry".
